Pontoons are the traditional method of floating an effluent pump on a pond or in a concrete tank system. They range in shapes and sizes, with different boom lengths and number of flotation drums.
Safety is a major consideration when working around effluent ponds, and pontoons are now equipped with working platforms and safety rails for when the pump requires servicing or maintenance. However, as detailed in this Department of Labour Hazard Fact Sheet, there have been two deaths on effluent ponds in New Zealand in recent years, highlighting the need for additional caution and planning.
In response to this need, Nevada launched an innovative new product called the PondBoom, providing dairy farmers with two major benefits:
|OPERATOR SAFETY||The Nevada PondBoom eliminates the need to enter the pond, as the pump is retracted back along the boom to the shore.|
|SERVICE EFFICIENCY||Servicing and maintenance is quicker as the pump can be quickly retracted and then deployed again, all from the safety of the shore.|
